Community members of Island Harbour, the Primary school and a pre school sucessfully evacuated to their primary tsunami evacuation zone this morning arriving approximately 20 minutes before the first waves were projected to hit.

Community Risk Reduction Committe members felt it was a valuable exercise to test the National Warning System and develop the community evacuation protocols.

When asked if they were surprised how little time it took to reach the evacuation zone, the students all responsed with a resounding YES!

Some stated it made them less frightened now that they knew what to do and where to go in a real event.
